Vogue - 11 weeks

Vogue is 11 weeks old today, She has been with me for 2 weeks now (even though it feels like I have had her for ever) She is such a little devil! lol.... She is extremely outgoing and everything i wanted from my pup :). I have taken her into town and to pet shops and she isnt bothered by anything (at the moment) which is great! She loves all the fuss from people, but poor Angel & Jazz don't get a look in with people in town, all the fuss gets made over Vogue.

She had her first vaccination last Thursday, she made a little cry but she was very brave! Her second vaccination is this Friday YAY! She can finally go on the floor and out for 'short' walks with Angel & Jazz.
I couldn't of asked for a better puppy, she is exactly what I have been looking for. She absolutely LOVES toys! Especially tug games, she is very focused on toys but equaly as focused on treats(Which comes in very handy for training lol)

I have been doing bits of training with her every evening. She gets very excited when i get out her clicker, because she knows shes going to get a game of tug and treats! Her training is going extremely well... I will be posting a video of her training next week.

Here are some photo's of her taken today....

Introducing: Kamarda Hot Chick (Vogue)

Vogue is my new pup she is a gorgeous blue & white border collie puppy who is now 9 weeks old. I collected her on Sunday so she has only been with me for 3 days, and she is such a little devil!

(She doesn't believe in sleeping haha)When she first came home she leaped out the crate and made herself right at home. She is a very confident pup with lots of attitude, so i guess im going to have a lot of fun training her!! lol.She is extremely outgoing with a BIG attitude! From the moment i first met her all she wanted to do was play tug and chase her toys around!

She is as bright as a button and really enjoys playing with Jazz. They chase each other around playing with there toys. Angel doesn't get involved with the puppy, she just watch's her play with Jazz lol. Vogue doesn't bother trying to play with Angel because she knows Angel will give her a telling off so she takes all her toys to Jazz instead.Vogue's parents are very outgoing/loveable/confident dogs.

They were bringing me toys and they were full of kisses and cuddles. They are very bouncy dogs with lots of character!

Her parents have excellent Hip Scores and and are genetically clear of (CEA, CL and TNS)

Jazz obedience update

As some of you know i have been having major problems with Jazz especially in her training. For those of you who don't know i haven't been able to do agility training with her for a couple of months now and i have also had to stop the obedience although she does enjoy this more then agility!

Lately she has been alot more confident in herself and has been very playful etc... Today i brought her a new Sphericon dog ball which she LOVES!!! So this is her new training toy =)

Anyway... Tonight i took her up to obedience training (I must admit i was anxious because i didn't know how she would react) Janet kindly offered to give me 1-2-1 lesson's each week which is better for Jazz. We did little excercises to keep Jazz's attention on me and doing excercises with no hand signals! Jazz was really enjoying herself, i am training everything on the clicker which i am re-introducing to her. At the end of the session we done heelwork, one word to sum it up 'AMAZING'. Her head was high up and she was really prancing and taking big strides she looked stunning!

We had been thinking about whether to take Jazz to Crufts for a while and we have finaly come to the decision to....... TAKE HER =D. I am very happy to be with my 2 girls at Crufts next year (As Angel is doing the Good Citizen gold display on the Saturday & Sunday) So i have Jazz on the Thursday and Angel on the Saturday & Sunday.

We have now booked the hotel and flights we are staying in the Novotel which is right opposite Birmingham airport and is 5mins away from Crufts! http://www.novotel.com/gb/hotel-1158-novotel-birmingham-airport/index.shtml

So lots and lots of training to do to prepare for Crufs - especially with Jazz for the YKC Starters Obedience competition!

GSD Agility Show

We had a agility comp on saturday with 4 classe's, i was very please with Angel as she won the Novice Agility =) She really ran her socks off (unfortunatly i don't have a video of it)

She seems be starting to be really enjoy her agility now, even though she is 6 i think she has hit her prime!?!?! We have a lovely shield for winning the Novice Agiltity class =)

But i have to mention the difference between these 2 photo's the first photo was taken 5 years ago and the second photo was taken tonight (look how much we have both changed) I was about 12 and Angel was about 1.....

Dog Dancing Show - Angel !!

This morning me and Angel headed off to the 'Royal Jersey Showground' to take part in a doggy dancing competion! It is held once every 2years ... So i thought i would give it a go, and i am pleased i did.

I was entered in 'Starters Freestyle' The song i performed to was 'Grease - We go together' It is a nice up-beat song =)

The result ........ 1st!! I was the only Jersey competitor all the other's mostly being from Belgium which was great so meet new people, who were all really nice. I am over the moon that Angel won because we have been doing it for many years now and she deserves it :)

We also took part in the evening show which is open to the public (this was very nerve racking!!) But it wasn't to bad in the end.

I love these photo's of Angel with her trophie (just look at the faces she pulls haha) ...

Angel doing her Elvis impression (which she does very well )

Paws Agility Show

Today i had Angel entered into 5 classes at the paws show. She ran well in the first class (helter skelter) But i felt as if she was struggling when jumping near the top of the course it was if she was stuff, but later in the day this seemed to dissapear.

Angel does NOT like running in the rain, and there was quite a few showers during the day but luckly the weather was on our side and we just managed to dodge the rain during our runs woo =)

One problem that was occuring was her .... Weaves!!!! I think it is because i don't trust her to get her entry in the ring but in training i will let her find the entry independenatly (I must stop getting in her way) She can do the weaves perfectly as long as i let her find the entry instead of me using my hands to guide her in! On a more positive note her speed has really improved in the weaves so i am very pleased =)

Overall it was a really good day Angel was running well so i am very pleased! She is shattered now though and we have a Heelwork to music competition tomorrow so plently of rest for her tonight unfortunately it means missing agility tomorrow but the Heelwork to music competion is only once every 2years over here so i can't really miss it! I will post tomorrow on how the competition went.

I have got 2 of her runs on video, unfortuantely i didn't get the last class on video which was pairs which she got a 1st in.

It won't let me upload the video yet - I will try and get them on asap

Happy 6th Birthday Angel

Today is Angel's 6th birthday the past 5 and a bit years seem to have flown by........

I was looking back at some photo's of her when i first got her at 8months old (how shes changed!) Unfortunately i don't have any of these photo's on my laptop :(

For her birthday Angel got one of her favourite treats which are these sausages joined together, and for her tea she will get her favourite ... "bolied fish" and of course Jazz will have that to otherwise she will be sooo jealous haha!

Here are Angel's birthday cards =) ..

Jazz - Obedience Update

Well Jazz adores her obedience more then agility i think. When ever im on a walk with her or she is at agility training she always starts doing heelwork!! I havent actually done any obedience training with her for a couple of months, i have just been working on her obedience.

Last wednesday at agility training Lynn ran her around a course and Jazz doesnt do the weaves yet so Lynn just walked past them with her and guess what Jazz decided to do!?!? Heelwork lol she just can't resist (well we know what Jazz wants hear sport to be haha)

Here is a really short video of Jazz doing her heelwork with Lynn ..

Jazz - Agility Training 13months old

Tonight i took Angel & Jazz to 'Paws' for training. Jazz was first up at 7.30 - We were working on snakes and pullthroughs on the first section. I really need to get used to handling Jazz different from how i handle Angel because she is a collie she rely's heavily on my body movement! Tonight taught me i really need to use my shoulders and arms even more because i was giving her the wrong signals!!

I was happy on how she was running, she seemed to really enjoy herself which is the main thing.

On the second section we had the A-Frame (which needs lots more work on getting her targets) She is faster on more open courses. I find she seems to work alot better when the jumps are well spread out, or it could be because i need to do more grid work her! She was faster on this course as it was more open!

All in all i am very pleased with how she was at training tonight! I need to work on my body language and hand signals.

Angel was such a little star!! She was like a little rocket i can't even begin to explain how pleased i am with her, she was motoring through all the courses. Her weaves were amazing (she ran in to a pole though bless her, she couldn't stop herself)

I had a problem with Angel's weaves she would jump out of the last 2 poles!! When i was training with Jane James she told me to add an extra 4 weave poles onto the normal 12 so it will teach Angel to weave no matter how many weaves are out. Which i think is a really good idea!

Here is a video of Jazz at training tonight...

Angel - GSD Agility Show

This morning me and Angel headed up to the Airport playing field for the GSD agility competition.

On the way to the show Angel looked really tired, she looked as if she wasn't going to run! But she proved me wrong.

There were 4 classes which she ran very nicely (just a shame about the handler!!)

Results..

Small Open Steeplechase: 5th - 5faults in the weaves (Me getting in her way)

Small Novice Jumping: 3rd

Small Novice Agility: E'D (I lost my way near the end, she had such a stunning round i could of kiced myself!! ARGH never mind this will teach me to walk courses properly next time!

Small Power & Speed: 5 faults in the weaves

Jane (The judge) gave me the 'If Only Trophy' she said: "If only i walked her course properly" Angel had a fast time in this class and would of most probably won it, just to make the mattter worse lol!

So overall Angel was running really well it is just the handler who let her down!

One thing i always do is in the weaves in training i will let Angel freely weave were as in the competitions i will encourage her by guiding her (it is a bad habbit which i need to get out off) Because i know she is capable of doing the weaves independatly its just she doesn't have the speed like she does in training.

Jumping Action!!

When i was training last friday i got these photo's of Jazz jumping.

It shows how far ahead she takes of to jump and how straight her body is while she is in mid air!

I need to work on her strides by doing some gridwork... So much more training needed in this area!!

Here are the action shots of her jumping ..

Today's Walk with Lexi

Today me and sophie met up to walk the dogs. We took them to St.Catherines woods then down to the little beach.

All the dogs seemed to really enjoy themselves, although poor little Angel was getting knocked about by Jazz and Lexi playing chase!! But then she stood up for herself and started barking at them (Go!! Angel lol)

Jazz certainly enjoys the water she was splashing around with Lexi. One strange thing that Jazz does is everytime we are out on a walk she always goes to the toilet in water! She never goes on grass or anything, then she will carry on walking then lay down in the water (Strange dog) haha!

Here is my favourite pic from the walk ...

My clumsy dog's ..

I took Angel & Jazz training today at a friends sandschool.

I was working on very fun excercises with Jazz as she gets fed up very quickly! I also done some fun little excercises with Angel.

I put this little video together because both Angel & Jazz were being really clumsy lol! Poor Angel took a big tumble (But she is fine, she was wagging her little tail afterwards)

I think i chose an appropriate song for this video haha ..

Walk on the Sandunes...

I have finished my college work now! YIPEE ... so today i went for a walk with Lynn and her dogs (Kiki, Rosie & Molly) Who are 3 lovely collies!

Jazz was in her glory running around with her best friend 'Kiki' because they are both young they love to play together!

Angel doesn't really like the sandunes that much, she hates the prickly grass lol .. She walks on all the paths right behind me (She wanted to stay in the car)

Me and Lynn meet up alot to walk the dogs together because Jazz & Kiki get on so well together, they are great play mates :)

Here is my favourite photo from our walk on the sandunes..

GSD Agility Show

Well what a great 3 days me and Angel have had!

She has been running really well, she has thouroughly enjoyed herself and so have i :)

The courses were nice especially the ones with the long lines at the end (this is when Angel really opens up) We had 4 runs over 3 days which got tiring but was good.

The smalls were combined with the mediums which made it alot more challenging!

My favourite run of the show has to be the 'Helter Skelter' yesterday, it was a really nice open course (i don't usually like Helter Skelters because i tend to get lost by going around in circles haha) Angel was like a rocket WOW her speed was amazing, i havent seen her like that in ages (shame i didnt get it on camera) she ended up 3rd because 2 mediums beat her but i was over the moon with how she ran, on the straight line to the finish she was well ahead of me she was motoring to the finish!

I also ran 3 different collies a couple of times (Megan, Jo Jo, Tyke) thanks for the great runs :)

She got x1 3rds x1 4th x2 5ths x2 6ths x2 clear rounds

Here is a video of Angel from the show.. (Notice in the first class - 'Take Your Own' The judge and scriber were in the way near the end, i was like ahhhh haha)

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY JAZZ

Jazz is a year old today!

I can't really keep calling her puppy anymore :( She has grown up so quickly and she seems to have matured much quicker then some of the other puppies.

But she can start going to the clubs for training so that is a good thing :) Her first agility club training will be this wednesday at 'Paws' It is an indoor sand school so it should be interesting for her!

She is a great dog, and i am very pleased i have her!

Paws Agility Show

This weekend i had an agility competition with Angel. She had 5 runs on the saturday but i only put her in 4 because i found 5 runs to much for her in one day she wasnt running very fast on saturday but she got all clears which is really good. She got 3 clear rounds and a 5th.

Angel usually gets around courses clear and really listens to me which is great! So im really pleased with her for that.

Today she had 4 runs. I have a video of 2 of her runs from today on the video below... She got x2 3rd's and x2 6th's

Here is a video of 2 of her runs from today..

Jersey Agility Festival 2008

I entered Angel into the Festival, but it didnt turn out to good :(

The first 2 days was quite hot which Angel did not like at all! So she decided to pretty much walk around the course except from on the home run she would run haha.

The last day was today and it was raining most of the day which she prefered and she ran around the courses.

Angel didnt get placed in any of the classes but did get 4 clear rounds!

Walk In The Woods!!...

This afternoon i took Angel & Jazz to the woods. Angel was enjoying herself trying to get to the ducks who were the other side of the HUGE pond haha! Angel doesnt like getting her paws wet so there was no chance of her going to see the ducks. I wouldnt let her get a duck obviously even though i don't think she would actually catch one i wouldnt take the risk (poor ducks)

Well were do i start with Jazz hmmm.... she was running and running oh and running! She never stops at the moment she is trying to swim but only in little puddles. She goes into a shallow bit of water and lays down and starts paddling haha! I think she is teaching herself to swim starting in the shallow end and making her way up (she isnt very keen on the actually sea yet)

I managed to get some nice photo's of the two of them so here they are..

Funny Pics...

I coudnt resist taking these photo's of Jazz when she was trying to get out into the garden, by licking the door... She usually lay's with her nose squashed at the door and with her mouth pressing against the glass (strange puppy) haha

Her usual pose! (SMILE)

Jazz Agility - Small Course

I went to agility training with Jazz this afternoon and we had a go at a small course, it was quite nice and flowing except the entrance into the pipe tunnel but she handled the course extremely well :)

I videod Jazz's 3 run's today, i was really pleased with her because she listened really well to all my command's and is now starting to run on ahead of me and looking for the next obsatcle.

You can see she really wants to do her agility by when she is on the start line she is so fixed looking at the course lol. The second you say GO!! she's off.

Here is the video of her running a small course :) ...

Jazz Obedience Training

I havent done any obedience training with Jazz for quite a while, so tonight i decided to train her! She is doing really really well and i need all the training i can get ready for next Crufts :)

She still needs loads of training.

In her heelwork she can be to pushy! On straight lines she is really pushing hard against my leg and tries to race ahead of me so i am turning her back round to make her more steady!

Her recalls are coming along nicely, the only bit that needs work is her coming faster when she is released.

All she will need to do for her class in Crufts is...

  • Left hand circle of heelwork
  • Right hand circle of heelwork
  • Recall (No finish)

So i am purticualy working on these excercises!

Here is a video of her training tonight..

Saturday 12 April 2008

GSD Agility Show!!

Well all i can say is i am very proud of Angel, she ran her little socks of today usually she only runs fast in training and not in shows i thought maybe she gets ring shy. But today she worked really really well for me!

There were 4 classes and she didnt have any faults through out the whole day (what a good girl)

Results

Small Starters Agility - 1st

Small Open Gamblers - 2nd

Small Starters Jumping - 1st

Small Open Steeple Chase - 5th

Best overall small dog - Angel

Angel Practising her weaves....

I have been practising Angel's weaves for the agility show tomorrow because she sometimes doesnt get her weave entry. I was sending her into the weaves by herself whilst i stood still, and she is doing really well (hopefully she will do the weaves like on the video tomorrow) Her weaves are so much quicker then they used to be, she use to walk and sniff through them so im really pleased on how they have improved :)

She is now doing right and left hand weaves but she is still not as experienced on the right hand side yet so tomorrow i will be sticking to the left hand weaves!

Here is a little video of Angel weeeaaavvving....

Jazz Agility Training - Nearly 11 Months

I took Jazz training today she is going to be 11 months old in 5 days.

I am now training her on the dog walk and see-saw, she is getting her contacts nicely especially as she has only just started.

I am also doing quite alot of grid work for her pacing.

I am struggling to keep up with her now as you can see in the video! So i am starting to train her in distance control, as you can see in the video there are mistakes because im not faster enough, so hopefully she can work ahead of me soon! I am trying to keep up the best i can and she isnt even running her fastest yet so i deffently need distance control haha!

Here is a video of Jazz training today..

Angel - Agility Training

I took Angel to agility training this afternoon, we were training for about 1hour 30mins which was good for both of us because it gets us fit lol... Angel was little miss speedy at training and she was really enjoying her self which is nice to see! I don't train Angel to much because she starts getting slower the more i train her, i have noticed she seems to get fed up of to much training so i only train every so often!

Here is a short video of Angel training today..

Back From Crufts!!..

Bad Storm: Angel isn't home with me :( she is still in England because of the terrible storm, i am hoping she will be back wednesday morning! It just isnt the same without her at home
She is now back home :D

I am now back home from Crufts 2008, it was amazing as it always is.

I really enjoyed watching the agility of course and the flyball (WOW THE SPEED........)

The best in show was great the agility championships were amazing to watch that was the highlight of Crufts for me!

Me and Angel did 5 good citizen silver displays which was good fun. On the saturday we done 3 displays and on the second display the Duke Of Kent and Grommit came in the ring because Grommit is now the new face for the good citizen dog scheme (Im not sure what the dogs thought when a giant Grommit came into the ring haha)

Angel was really tired at the end of each day and so was I we had quite alot of travelling getting on buses and taxi's (im pleased that part is over haha)

I didnt take many photo's because i was to busy buying leads & collars lol and watching everything.

Here is a photo of me and Angel on our bench......

Jazz Obedience Training

Jazz is doing really well, she has picked up obedience very quickly and she seems to enjoy it as you can see by her wagging her tail whilst training.. sometimes she looses concentration so i only do short training sessions, usually around 5mins which lots of play in between, otherwise she gets bored and goes all moody and runs off and lays down as if to say boringggggggg!!... (Moody Puppy) haha

Here is a little video i made up this evening of Jazz doing some obedience training in the kitchen!!!

Sunday 2 March 2008

Jazz Agility Training - Nearly 10 months

Jazz is nearly 10months old already!!!

I decided to do a little bit of agility training with Jazz today, she did a few jumps on a low height and the pipe tunnel! She really really enjoyed herself today. When it was time to leave she wouldnt let me catch her haha the little bugger!

She is already going very fast when turning and especially when she is running in a straight line as you can see in the first clip of the video, i couldnt keep up so i let her run on hah! im to lazy, i think i need to get alot fitter to try and keep up with her, but it was good practise sending her on for distance control.

Here is a short video of her jumping a few jumps on the low height and going through the pipe tunnel...

My First Post!!!

This is my First post on my new blog! It is going to be my blog about my 2 dogs Angel & Jazz. Im looking foward to using my blog and updating it with all the news from training and shows!

Angel is my shetland sheepdog, she is my first ever dog who got me started in agility, obedience and heelwork to music! I got her at the age of 8months, she is a lovely dog to train and she always her best for me! I started agility with her when she was around 14months, then i got started in obedience when she was about 2 then heelwork to music about 2 1/2. She does quite well in agility although sometimes she can be slow :( and other times she can be fast :) But she my little best friend!
Jazz is the newest addition she is a working sheepdog who is adorbable and a bit crazy!! She is now 9months old and is doing ground work for agility such as going through wings and poles and she is sitting on the contacts! She is doing a few tunnels which she seems to really enjoy, she goes like lightning through a line of wings!! I love Jazz's marking this is what caught my eye when i was looking for a puppy i couldnt resist her unusual marking which looks like eyeliner!!! I can't wait to do agility, obedience and heelwork to music with her. She already does alot of obedience and she is doing very well in it.
